About Boca/Deerfield Beach
The tropical climate and wide sandy beaches of Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach are the primary reason why
these cities and the surrounding area has been a haven for the wealthy since the turn of
the century. The Gulf Stream comes closer to Boca Raton than any other city in Florida,
and the sea breezes it brings with it make Boca Raton an ideal spot for all of the outdoor
recreation Florida’s beaches have to offer. In addition, its location on “The Gold Coast”
– Florida’s most exclusive coastal communities – means the Boca Raton area is rich with
culture, shopping, and entertainment.
Families are always welcome in Boca Raton, with natural attractions that will keep the
attention of the entire family. The Gumbo Limbo
Environmental Complex combines education with fun in this tropical nature preserve,
which is home to many species of rare and endangered plants and animals. Butterfly World
is home to thousands of the delicate, brightly colored creatures in their natural
surroundings. Visitors to the area can tour the Everglades in a uniquely Florida fashion –
by air boat – through Loxahatchee
Everglades Tours.
This is just a fraction of what Boca Raton has to offer. Spend a day at the Coconut Cove Water Park,
with water slides and rides for everyone from the smallest toddlers to thrill-seeking
teenagers. Check out the International Museum of
Cartoon Art, host to one of the largest archives of cartoon art in the world.
The Sports Immortals Museum is home to
a huge collection of sports memorabilia, including Sugar Ray Robinson’s gloves, Roberto
Clemente’s baseball cap, and Joe Namath’s jersey. The Boca Raton Museum of Art houses an impressive
collection of fine art dating throughout recorded history.
Both Boca Raton and its neighbor to the south, Deerfield Beach, have many local, state
and national parks in the area, as well as access to glistening, sugar-white sandy beaches.
Visitors to these parks and beaches, including the Patch Reef Park and the
South Beach Park, can take advantage of the sports fields, fishing piers, playgrounds,
fitness trails, beach access and picnic pavilions provided by these parks. Surfing and
sailing are also very popular in this area, as are fishing, Jet-skiing, and
water-skiing.
